A Question of Integrity!

Race, the final frontier, this is an issue we all avoid, to seek out new paths, new ways, to boldly go where most… Well, you get the idea! Yes my friends, most of us would prefer to bury our heads in the sand and pretend this isn’t an issue, but it is and it’s deeply entrenched in our society! I’m talking about xenophobia a.k.a. racism.

In a recent conversation with a childhood -friend, I found out that her father was not fond of me because, well… to be blunt, I was left in the proverbial toaster for longer than some! On the other hand, I was audaciously labeled a “racist” simply because I disagree with the political policies of someone who is of African ancestry. So, since I get slapped equally from both sides of the ignorant asylum, I feel that this is a pretty safe subject for me.

In a recent debate with my good friend Robert Smith, he brought up this same subject, claiming that most Tea Party people are racists because they can’t bear the thought of a “black” man being in the White House. I expressed to him that there might be some in the Tea Party movement who may be racially prejudiced, as I am confident that ignorance and extremism can be found equally on the other side of the political spectrum as demonstrated by the liberal left continuous attacks at Sarah Palin, George W. Bush, Rush Limbaugh, Michael Steele and anyone else who happen to oppose their socialistic ideology. However that is not the concern that Tea Partiers have with the current administration.

Robert went on to say that Glenn Beck called the president a racist, which left me speechless and bewildered, as I had never heard Glenn make such claim. This had to be more half truths broadcasted on some left wing propagandist channel and as usual taken out of context. When analyzed within the proper context, this assertion would be much less nebulous and unambiguous than is being spread.

While researching YouTube for unusual videos, I came across a Vlog from the comedian, actor and radio talk show host Jackie Mason, who went where no man ever wants to go, applying without reservation, this label on the President. I might not agree with Mr. Mason’s statement, however, I do understand his viewpoint and reasoning, when properly examined in the context and milieu.

Mr. Mason referred to the debacle involving a Cambridge Police Officer and Cambridge resident Prof. Gates, who was seen entering a house through the window. The law enforcement officer, upon witnessing this act, legally and with-in reason questioned this man as to what he was doing, why and who he was. This created a verbal contest between the two men that received national attention, leading president Obama, admittedly biased and devoid of all the facts to comment on the situation, saying the “Cambridge police acted stupidly”. Later, this fiasco ended up with the infamous “beer summit”.

Mr. Mason goes on to mention that if the officer failed to question Prof. Gates he would be neglecting his duty, and the community would complain that the police didn’t care about intruders in the neighborhood, however because he did perform his duties he was criticized and branded by the president.

Either way, regardless of his actions that day, the Cambridge Police Officer would lose and in my opinion, Mr. Mason is absolutely correct in his reasoning on this particular point. President Obama should have steered clear of this subject and by intervening and commenting on this, the president certainly raised many questions about his character.

I will leave Mr. Mason’s Vlog and let you moderate this issue without restraint, however respectfully.

Bellow is Jackie Mason’s Vlog.

Maybe the president has poor judgment when choosing friends, because when reflecting on his many shadowy associations, past and present, together with this ignominy, questions could be raised as to his integrity and ability to be unbiased and impartial to the racially, culturally and diverse populace of this nation, who’s rights are guaranteed by the constitution and bill of rights which he swore to defend.
