Sarah Palin: An Inconvenient Truth!

Sarah Palin stepped into the national political limelight in August 2008 when then presidential candidate John McCain chose her as his running mate, making her the first female vice-presidential nominee of the Republican Party. Since that day, Sarah Palin has come under much scrutiny from the press, severely and cruelly attacked by the justly insecure, propagandist fanatical left who for some unknown reason contend that she is “stupid” and “dangerous” to America.

I recently interviewed many of my friends and asked them how they felt about Gov. Palin. The consensus response was unsurprisingly unanimous, accompanied by facial expressions of bewilderment and disdain: “I hate her”. When further pressed to elaborate on the response, most, just stared at me with a shocked, panicked, and confused expression on their faces, simply replying: “She’s stupid, just look at her face.” Three, however were willing to tackle the subject.

The first, a young lady in her early twenties, stated that if I showed her any interview involving the former Gov. of Alaska, she would point out specifically why she despises her, so I asked her to help me and research it further. One week later, when asked if she had completed the research on this query, she merely countered “No, but I take issue with her saying that she’s "rogue", it makes her look as though she doesn’t know the meaning of the word. Put that on your blog”. Ok…Fair enough!

Encarta Dictionary definition of the word “rogue” as it relates to the context:

Rogue (adjective) 1.Unorthodox and unpredictable. Acting independently and using unorthodox methods that are unpredictable and are likely to cause trouble.
I’m not sure who is uninformed on the meaning of this word “rogue”, but as I see it; it actually seems to be an appropriate use of word, describing the course the former governor has chosen to take in her political career on both state and national level, Palin also explained that she took the title of her national bestselling book “Going Rogue: An American Life” from the phrase 'gone rogue' used by McCain staffers to describe her behavior when she spoke her mind on the issues during the campaign. Another words; she doesn’t follow, she leads!

The second, a young man who claims not to be interested in politics, mentioned the statement Mrs. Palin made in her Sept. 11, 2008 interview with ABC's Charlie Gibson regarding Russia: "They're our next-door neighbors, and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska." albeit it was misquoted as if she had said that she could see Russia from her house instead of from “land here in Alaska”. The surprising fact is that you can see Russia from Alaska, and all of Sarah’s critics either fail to research this or mention it, leading those who hear about it, to believe that it’s simply an unintelligent avowal.

Mainland Russia and Alaska are separated by the Bering Strait, which is about 55 miles at its narrowest point. In the middle of the Bering Strait are two small islands: Big Diomede, which sits in Russian territory, and Little Diomede, which is part of the United States. At their closest, these two islands are a little less than two and a half miles apart, which means that, on a clear day, you can actually see one from the other. Also, according to a New York Times article written in the fading years of the Cold War, if you stand on high ground on the tip of St. Lawrence Island, you can see the Russian mainland, about 37 miles away. The same article claims that you can see Russia from the Tin City Air Force facility at Cape Prince of Wales, which is the westernmost point of the mainland Americas. The station chief at Tin City confirms that, for roughly half the year, you can see Siberian mountain ranges from the highest part of the facility. It seems as though the Gov. does know what she’s talking about as she should, better than most of us who never even been to Alaska. However, contrast this statement against president Obama’s: “I’ve now been to fifty-seven states, and one left to go, Alaska and Hawaii, I was not allowed to go” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpGH02DtIws) and one might want to think twice about calling Sarah Palin “stupid”.

The third was very eloquent in elaborating his opinion as to why he “hates” Sarah Palin and gave a lucid example of what turned out to be another misconstrued report. His position was based, however misquoted, on a blog post that included "fake Governor Sarah Palin quotes" made up by a blogger to satirize her and popularized by actor Matt Damon that Mrs. Palin believed men and dinosaurs co-existed on earth about 6,000 years ago. The L.A. Times citing an anonymous source and quoting, Wasilla, Alaska resident Philip Munger posted on Sept. 28th 2008 and authored by Stephen Braun (http://articles.latimes.com/2008/sep/28/nation/na-palinreligion28) also helped promote this myth. Although, the idea of a "young Earth" - that God created the Earth about 6,000 years ago, and dinosaurs and humans coexisted early on - is a popular a belief among some Christians, Mr. Munger’s assertion has never been confirmed by independent sources as factual and if Mrs. Palin’s viewpoint coincide with this belief, we can ask these questions; What does this belief have to do with effectively and responsibly running the country? How would ascribing to it be a “danger” to the national security of the United States? How, specifically would this particular faith based principle make one stupid? And, what gives anyone the right to ridicule another human for their particular religious beliefs? Because we cannot establish this malignant claim as accurate, it’s all nothing more than a big IF. Predictably, they have been repeated often enough by supposed credible sources as genuine Sarah Palin quotes that people are convinced they're real.

It seems to me, that most people only see what they want, choosing the easy path of following and having others do the thinking for them, instead of creating reasonable and educated opinions and ideas based on sensible and rational facts using prudence in reaching any final conclusions!

Sarah Palin is a threat, but not to the American people. Sarah Palin is a threat to the propagandist left wing fanatics’ agenda to fundamentally change this country into a mediocre society of governmental dependent citizens while employing “plantation” politics. She is viable and uncompromising, politically conservative candidate, who not only loves her country, but also values and recognizes its constitution as supreme, absolute, unquestionable and conclusive. For this reason she had to be absolutely discredited by invective, malicious and unsubstantiated allegations that thankfully, many Americans are able to understand and see them for what they truly are!

One interesting article published Saturday, February, 27, 2010 by Doug Brady is worthy of reading further on this issue. http://www.conservatives4palin.com/2010/02/more-advice-from-from-know-it-alls-why.html

  2. While I don't think Sarah will or should(too divisive IMO) be on the ticket in '12,I think she would make a great appointee to Secretary of the Interior by the next President.Hopefully that will be someone like Paul Ryan, who I think has the chops for getting this train wreck back on the rails.again.Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli would make an excellent running mate.Just my version of a dream ticket.
