The Audacity to Lie!

Our President is indeed audacious! There should be absolutely no doubt in our minds now. But if memory serves me correctly that was the title of one of his books, "The Audacity of Hope". However, his audaciousness is not hope but flat out lies.

Barack Obama in his nationally televised State of the Union Address, on January 27th 2010 said:

“To close that credibility gap we must take action on both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue to end the out sized influence of lobbyists; to do our work openly; and to give our people the government they deserve... That’s what I came to Washington to do. That’s why – for the first time in history – my Administration posts our White House visitors online. And that’s why we’ve excluded lobbyists from policy-making jobs or seats on federal boards and commissions.”

Well... well... well. I wonder why the liberal media, in all its glorified self righteousness has not jumped on this head first. After all, had these been the words of a conservative president they surely would have ripped him apart for telling flat out lies, like this to congress and the American people. What lies you're asking? Well my friend, allow me to give you the disparaging news that this White House administration is all but void of lobbyists.

Shall we start with Mr. William Lynn, serving in the Pentagon, assigned by Obama as the Deputy Defense Secretary. Now, before working for the President, William Lynn was, guess what? You're right! A lobbyist for none other than defense contractor Raytheon, where he was a senior executive.

Now, one would say, ok somebody slipped through the cracks, give the man a break, what's the big deal! Well my friends it's not just Mr. Lynn.

1. Eric Holder, attorney general nominee, was registered to lobby until 2004 on behalf of clients including Global Crossing, a bankrupt telecommunications firm [now confirmed]

2. Tom Vilsack, secretary of agriculture nominee, was registered to lobby as recently as last year on behalf of the National Education Association.

3. William Corr, deputy health and human services secretary nominee, was registered to lobby until last year for the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, a non-profit that pushes to limit tobacco use.

4. David Hayes, deputy interior secretary nominee, was registered to lobby until 2006 for clients, including the regional utility San Diego Gas & Electric.

5. Mark Patterson, chief of staff to Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, was registered to lobby as recently as last year for financial giant Goldman Sachs.

6. Ron Klain, chief of staff to Vice President Joe Biden, was registered to lobby until 2005 for clients, including the Coalition for Asbestos Resolution, U.S. Airways, Airborne Express and drug-maker ImClone.

7. Mona Sutphen, deputy White House chief of staff, was registered to lobby for clients, including Angliss International in 2003.

8. Melody Barnes, domestic policy council director, lobbied in 2003 and 2004 for liberal advocacy groups, including the American Civil Liberties Union, the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights, the American Constitution Society and the Center for Reproductive Rights.

9. Cecilia Munoz, White House director of intergovernmental affairs, was a lobbyist as recently as last year for the National Council of La Raza, a Hispanic advocacy group.

10. Patrick Gaspard, White House political affairs director, was a lobbyist for the Service Employees International Union.

11. Michael Strautmanis, chief of staff to the president’s assistant for intergovernmental relations, lobbied for the American Association of Justice from 2001 until 2005

The President said: "And that’s why we’ve excluded lobbyists from policy-making jobs or seats on federal boards and commissions.” Hum! No one on this list makes policies, work on a federal board or commission? Does he really think we're that stupid? Oh, yeah... we've been called that too, when they fail to have a good argument!
